Natural Induced Miscarriage Frequently Asked Questions for Women
What if I'm not sure if I'm pregnant? Can I use Emergency Contraception?
If you've had sex in the last 3 days and:
- You didn't use any birth control
- The condom broke
- You missed 2 or more birth control pills
- Your diaphragm slipped
- You were raped or were forced to have sex
You still have time to prevent pregnancy by using Emergency Contraceptive Pills. Some people call them ECPs or Morning After Pills. ECPs are ordinary birth control pills taken in special doses within 3 days after sex to prevent pregnancy, thereby reducing the chance of getting pregnant by 75%. Please note that these are not abortion pills and you can ask your doctor or local health care provider for them even if you live in a country where abortion is illegal or strictly controlled.
If you live in North America you can call the Emergency Contraception Hotline Toll Free. They will guide you to a community or family planning clinic close to you that will have ECPs.

What
is the Success Rate of Natural Miscarriage Methods?
We have no statistics of success rate because no one has ever done any scientific studies of these methods thus we have no idea how many women have succeeded in terminating their pregnancy as a result of our information. People generally do not write back to us. All we have are the testimonials that you see on the web page. My own experience is it has worked both times I have used it with my partner.
This is why we request that everyone who tries any of the methods we describe to please fill out our Follow-Up Questionnaire and tell us about their experiences, whether positive or negative. Then we can offer accurate statistical information to women around the world.
How
long does it take for these methods to work?
It takes any where from a week to six weeks to work depending on your condition, timing, effort, faith, etc. However, it may not work at all. To avoid uncertainty, we have devised a 20-Day Action Plan. This plan allows you to keep track of the methods you use and to have a definite end date where you can then try other options.
What
is an Emmenagogue?
An Emmenagogue is a herb or drug that helps to induce a menstrual period. Here are some examples of such herbs. They can be used in addition to the methods described in the Main Article to help to induce a miscarriage:
- Pennyroyal > Scientific name is Hedeoma pulegioides, also known as squaw mint, stinking balm, thickweed, and flea chaser.
- Angelica Root > tincture, take 10 drops three/day for four days.
- Fresh Parsley leaves juiced > vaginal insert juice from several sprigs twice daily for three days.
- Cotton Root bark (Gossypium) > make a strong tea and sip throughout the day till miscarriage is well under way.
I
have purchased the herbs. However, I was not able to get the rutin. I
am planning to begin with the Vitamin C and ginger root and then think
it may be best to begin sooner with the pennyroyal since I don't have
the rutin. Is the rutin an important step?
Pennyroyal should be used only after you have tried every thing else for at least a week. You can skip the rutin if you cannot find it. You can continue with the vitamin C with pennyroyal. Use pennyroyal EXACTLY as described in the directions. Blessings to you. We look forward to your feedback.
It
has been 10 weeks since the first date of my last period which means i
am actually 8 weeks pregnant or about 2 months. Do you think that natural
abortion will be sucessful for me?
After two months gestation these methods rarely work. You should then resign yourself to having the baby and accept it as the will of Mother Nature and be happy. Or if you do not have the possibility to have a surgical abortion and you really absolutely need to induce a miscarriage then click here for Last Resort Methods.
At
2 months gestation, I have taken 5 days of rutin and Vitamin C, and the
subsequent 5 days including ginger, with no result. I would like to know
whether continuing the rutin and Vitamin C alone will do any good, and
if so, for how long?
It is OK to take the vit C, rutin and ginger as long as you want without any serious side effects. If you start to get diarhea its time to cut back or just quit. If you do not abort in a couple weeks you probably will not have success with these natural methods.
I've
been trying to look for "RUTIN", one of the ingredients in
your article for naturally inducing a miscarriage but I seem to have
no luck. I've checked at our local natural health centre as well as
at two local pharmacists but they don't seem to know what it is. Can
you please tell me more about this "rutin" such as what is
it made up of and what is it used for?
Rutin is a bioflavinoid vitamin found in buckwheat, rue and Elder. If you cannot find it you should skip that procedure and go on to the next.
I wanted to know if after drinking the Pennyroyal tea for two days if
there could be the possibility of birth defects. I've also taken the
vitamin C for about three days. What I want to know is..... if I were
to change my mind, would it be too late? Also What are the harmful side
effects of Pennyroyal.
Our research indicates that Pennyroyal does not damage the fetus but could be problematic for the mother if she overdoses. For a more complete study of this read Susan Weed's book called "For the Childbearing Year". (Ash Tree Pub)
Regarding
the Rutin and Pennyroyal, I am afraid we do not have it in here, (Philippines).
And so, for now, I am taking extra Vitamin C followed by the ginger
root tea. Is there a danger of taking too much Vitamin C?
Vitamin C is very effective and safe. The amount you are taking is OK, most people get diarrhea if they take too much. Be sure to drink lots of water with it.
If it is too uncomfortable cut back on the Vitamin C and see what happens.
Since
taking the herbs and vitamins I have trouble sleeping at night and I feel
uncomfortable and bloated. What can I do?
We can not give medical advice since we are not MD's. Since you are having trouble sleeping and other discomforts we suggest you take rutin in the morning and Vit C in the evening. You would probably feel more comfortable taking the C in two doses also, first at around noon and another at night.
What Can I Expect when I Miscarry?
When your menstrual flow begins you will probably have more severe cramps then usual and there will be heavy bleeding with moderate to heavy clotting. The longer you have been pregnant the more difficult and heavy the period. To miscarry or abort is never a pleasant experience. Take refuge in, and allow your spirit be uplifted by the fact that you took control of your body and your life by successfully ending your pregnancy.
It is very helpful to have a supportive woman and/or man friend to help you through this along with a supportive health professional. In the case that complications should arise it is important to have prearranged help to call for.
