Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community Rainforest Retreat

Hedonisia LLC is also the parent company for Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community Rainforest Retreat located in the Puna region of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Hedonisia Hawaii offers affordable, rustic, eco-friendly lodgings in the rainforest of Hawaii! We have a fair-trade volunteer program that allows eco-tourists to enjoy extended stays and reduced prices on lodgings in exchange for work-trade volunteering.

Volunteer Intern Program in Hawaii!

Qualified candidates can apply to be Reproductive Rights Research Interns and enjoy a working vacation in Hawaii.

Qualification Requirements for Internship Candidates:

• Minimum of an Associates degree or two years in a Bachelor’s degree program with course work in at least one of the following areas: sociology, women’s studies, human sexuality studies, international affairs, psychology, holistic health studies, liberal arts, humanities, environmental studies, computer programming, web design, graphic design, business, marketing, statistics, communications or journalism (work experience in a related field may be substituted for formal education in some circumstances)
• We also welcome candidates who have not completed their degree but are interested in the work we are doing.
• For translation work candidate is required to be both a native speaker and have completed some formal study in the language they intend to translate.
• Experience with both formal collegiate level research and referencing procedures as well ease with basic as online research (e.g. using Google and other search engines)
• Basic computer proficiency including experience with Word, Excel and email.
• Experience with html, php, css, Dreamweaver, (Wordpress) or Photoshop might be required for certain tasks.

Application Process for Qualified Candidates

• Fill out the appropriate application form for the internship you are interested in.
• Formal resume with related experience (a cover letter detailing your specific interest is benefitcial but not required).
• Interns are accepted on a rolling basis but we can only have a limited number of interns at any one time.

Intern Program Details and Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum one month (four weeks) commitment.
• Minimum intern computer work time of three hours a day, four days a week; a total of 12 hours each week (times can be adjusted based on varied requirements for internship completion for your school or college)
• Community Support Day: anyone staying at Hedonisia Hawaii for more than about two weeks is considered part of the community and is required to participate in some of the basic maintenance activities of the community. Community Support Day consists of one three hour shift per week helping either with cleaning or weeding.

Additional Information for Interns:

• The program can be adjusted, within reason, to accommodate to school’s internship requirements
• We can work with the student to complete any necessary paperwork to complete their internship requirement.
• We can offer a certificate of completion upon request once the intern has satisfied the based requirements of the Hedonisia Intern Program

Reproductive Right’s Concentration On-Going Intern Projects:

• Research answers to women’s questions that come in through the site.
• Update and review current content on the site.
• Analyze women's stories for global patterns.
• Divide women's stories and stats: consensual versus non-consensual sex.
• Outreach to non-English speaking women world-wide by implementing landing pages in
  Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, etc...
• Proof-read, review and edit You Are Not Alone stories submitted by to the site daily.
• Analyze data submitted by site visitors
• Create statistical reports on archived data to indicate social trends
• Review site’s analytics to search for trends to help us better understand our user base.
• Brainstorm ideas for increasing marketing and promotion to expand site’s reach
• Research abortion and free speech laws in various countries.
• Continue to add new methods and updates to the site based on women’s questions and
  stories

Staying at Hedonisia Hawaii Sustainable Community Rainforest Retreat

Interns stay at Hedonisia Hawaii during their volunteer time. We offer significantly reduced prices on our already affordable lodgings for interns and volunteers

• Costs for Lodgings: for the minimum stay of four weeks Interns pay for only six nights as a Guest plus tax for the accommodation of your choice. Our Jungle Style Eco-lodgings are very affordable.
• Tryout period: the first six days of your stay, which you paid the nightly rate for, is your Tryout Period. Over these few days we look at the quality of your work and how your fit into the Hedonisia community. This six-day period allows for an opt-out for both parties if it is deemed not to be a good fit.
• Stays for longer than four weeks: if you are working out well and interested in staying for longer than the initial four week commitment the cost is one night in the lodging of your choice for up to one week additional stay as an intern.

Alternatively you may wish to come to Hedonisia Hawaii as one of our traditional eco-volunteers under our Fair-Trade Volunteer Program. Or you may simply choose to visit our sustainable community as an eco-tourist!
